Our Beginning Tai Chi Form Class that started in September is now closed. The next session of classes will begin mid-January.
All classes are held on Tuesday from 6:45 pm to 8:00. Each class begins with Qigong and after 12 sessions you will have completed the first third of the Yang Style Short Form.
The series costs $120.00 — your first session is free to try out. Bring a friend and each of you will pay $90. Repeaters pay half.
T’ai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese exercise that promotes health and well being. As you move through a series of postures at a slow and even pace, your body relaxes and your mind and emotions become calm. Tai chi is gentle enough for anyone to enjoy, no matter the age. Practicing tai chi increases circulation, improves balance and posture, reduces stress, and increases vitality. It combines meditation, movement and breath awareness. Tai chi is both a cardiovascular and weight-bearing exercise.
Our classes teach the Yang Style Short Form of tai chi. Our Roots & Branches qi-gong and the Eight Ways deepen your experience. You will go home from the first night’s class with enough embodiment to practice on your own. Our international school was founded by Patrick Watson in 1970 at the request of his teacher, Grand Master Cheng Man-Ching. The school has trained over 200 teachers in 30 teaching locations in 7 countries. Gil Milner, M.D. brought our branch to Spokane in 1984, where classes have been taught regularly since then.
We will be offering week long Tai Chi Summer Vacations, this next summer on Whidbey Island (just north of Seattle), and one in Europe. Summer intensives integrate nicely with our weekly classes here in Spokane. These are gatherings of our international school which attract people from around the world.
