T’ai Chi Benefits
T’ai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese exercise that promotes health and well being. As you move through a series of postures at a slow and even pace, your body relaxes and your mind and emotions become calm. Tai chi is gentle enough for anyone to enjoy, no matter the age. Practicing tai chi increases circulation, improves balance and posture, reduces stress, and increases vitality. It combines meditation, movement and breath awareness. Tai chi is both a cardiovascular and weight-bearing exercise.

Our School
Our classes teach the Yang Style Short Form of tai chi. Our Roots & Branches qi-gong and the Eight Ways deepen your experience. You will go home from the first night’s class with enough embodiment to practice on your own. Our international school was founded by Patrick Watson in 1970 at the request of his teacher, Grand Master Cheng Man-Ching. The school has trained over 200 teachers in 30 teaching locations in 7 countries. Gil Milner, M.D. brought our branch to Spokane in 1984, where classes have been taught regularly since then.

Our Classes

  • Introduction to Tai Chi Chuan is a class for all students who have no prior experience with Tai Chi and our School. We will focus on relaxation through postures and slow movements with balance, alighment and breath awareness.  These postures and movements are easy to learn and can be practiced and applied in your every day life. This class is ideal for people who are recovering from injuries or have not exercised in a while and are looking for a gentle and easy start to restoring their health.
  • Beginning Form continues the practice and embodiment of Tai Chi principles by learning the Yang Style Short Form.

Additional Opportunities
We normally offer week long Tai Chi Summer Vacations  in various locations (Whidbey Island, east coast, and in Europe). Summer intensives integrate nicely with our weekly classes here in Spokane.
